Welcome to Rainbow Vegetarian Cafe!
Opposite Kings College Gates in the World Famous Kings Parade of Cambridge .........The second most visited City and the U.K. –next to London!
We were established in 1979, I took over with my Business Partner in 1988, and then in the present incarnation with my Husband Willem, in 1995, when we refurbished and re-named’ ‘The Rainbow’ after the Song ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow ‘-
‘Meaning that Somewhere over the Rainbow is a place where there is no cruelty to Animal or Human and Peace for everyone.
Our Restaurant/Cafe is totally Vegetarian and Vegan, and we specialise in Food Intolerances and Allergies, and have done for the past 27 years, marking our menu with V=Vegan gf=Gluten free and N=nuts, long before this was even envisaged as legislation in the future !We use Sustainable, Seasonal, Local Produce, largely Organic. We recycle everything possible and work as a team effort, by choice everyone is Vegetarian or Vegan, and leftovers are taken home: and even plate scrapings are recycled to my large flock of chickens, thus we have Zero wastage! We have been runners-up in the Observer Food Awards in 2014 and 2015 for Best Ethical Restaurant. We were also Finalists in two Categories at the Free From eating out Awards 2015!
